But in terms of the AA cover they are much like any other breakdown insurance. They tend to be more expensive than many of the other less well-known firms, so it always pays to shop around. Just make sure you're comparing like with like, in terms of the level of cover provided, and make sure the cover meets your requirements. And equally, don't pay extra for cover you don't need (for instance, it would be a waste of money to pay extra for European cover if you never drive abroad).
One complaint that comes up fairly often is that they'll give you a good price for the first year, then increase it substantially upon renewal, so just make sure you check any renewal invitation carefully - and shop around or haggle with them if necessary.

The subject is AA Parts and Garage Cover, which is different.
It's an addition to their breakdown service and covers some of the cost of repair AFTER you have called them out for a breakdown, if it needs a repair that is.
It is not a warranty as such as you can't just claim on it for repairs outside of a breakdown.
I guess you would have to weigh up the cost against the likelihood of a breakdown (and the cost of repair) because of something not on their exceptions list against a proper warranty.
For me, I've only ever called out a breakdown service twice, once was for a clutch giving up the ghost when pulling a heavy trailer and the second time I locked the keys in a running car (it auto locked after a jump start) so neither would have been covered.
