ORIGINAL:
Sangamon County officials say they are still looking for the family of a man who was crushed to death inside a garbage truck.

The body of Lee Roy Stewart, 58, was discovered Thursday morning at the Waste Management facility in Springfield, Illinois.

He was alive when he was crushed inside a garbage truck.

The case is still under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner's Office and the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement says deputies are still backtracking and finding potential routes to locate where the body initially came from.

We're told Stewart was homeless and had been living in Sangamon County the past couple of months.

He was in Florida in August 2020.

An arrest record with Clay County in Florida shows he was taken into custody on charges of resisting an officer.

Authorities are now asking for help finding Stewart's next of kin.
